In aquariums Boesemani Rainbows can grow to be about 2.5" long, including their tails. Females are usually smaller and plumper when mature. Sometimes very old Rainbowfish are even bigger. Most Rainbowfish are active swimmers and are rarely aggressive. Recommended tank mates for the Boesemani Rainbowfish include, other varieties of Rainbowfish, Danios, Barbs, Gouramis, and many other medium size aquarium fish. Rainbowfish are most comfortable at about 75 degrees F.
It's best to house Boesemani Rainbowfish in at least a 20-gallon tank, but bigger is always better. Keep at most one Rainbowfish per 2-gallons, when they're small. Larger Rainbowfish need about 4-gallons per Rainbowfish. The bigger the fish gets, the more water they will need.
